The Blick Clinic Alternative Education Program, located at the Schnee Learning Center in Cuyahoga Falls, contracts with local school districts to provide academic instruction to students with a developmental disability and challenging behaviors. The four classrooms are staffed by teachers, assistants and aides who are trained in behavioral support as well as each student's Individualized Education Program. Students follow their home school district's calendar and daily student hours are 9:00A.M.-2:00P.M. Transportation is provided by the home school district. The Alternative Education Program is open year round with Extended School Year services and summer program available.
This program is available for students with a developmental disability who have an Individualized Education Program and are experiencing behavioral problems that require a higher level of intervention than their home school district can provide. Students are referred by their home school's special education department. This is a separate facility designation on the Individualized Education Program and length of stay is determined by the team and based on each student's progress. |
